Yanmar Museum ヤンマーミュージアム

The Yanmar Museum is an interactive experience where children, the future generation, can learn while having fun through physical activities. After visiting the theatre, which conveys the dynamic spirit of Yanmar's founder, visitors can try their hand at a variety of activities.

The Yanmar Museum is easily accessible by train.

Take the Tokaido Shinkansen to Maibara (just over 2 hours from Tokyo or 20 minutes from Kyoto). Then take the Hokuriku Main Line to Nagahama (about 10 minutes). The Yanmar Museum is about a 10-minute walk from JR Nagahama station.

If you're in Japan, you've likely seen the name Yanmar everywhere. To celebrate its 100th anniversary, Yanmar built this hands-on museum in Nagahama, the home town of its founder.

The Yanmar Museum has activities and experiences on the themes of Yanmar's business areas of Land, City and Sea. You can try activities based around Yanmar's core products - diesel engines, tractors, power shovels and pleasure boats. After, you can relax and soak your feet in the footbath that uses exhaust heat, and look out over the biotope that recreates the original landscape of Lake Biwa. Stroll the second floor corridor to see an exhibition of Yanmar's history. And if you get hungry, stop by the restaurant to try fresh rice milled that morning, and cooked to perfection. Various other events and workshops are organised in all seasons.
