Kujukushima Pearl Sea Resort 九十九島パールシーリゾート

Kujukushima Pearl Sea Resort is a small hideaway surrounded by the sea of the Kujuku Islands in Saikai National Park . The beautiful scenery of blue sky, sea, and verdant islands is one of the most spectacular in the country.

To get to Kujukushima Pearl Sea Resort, take a bus from Sasebo Station. Buses departing every 30 to 40 mninutes from Bus Stop No. 6 for Pearl Sea Resort and Kujukushima Aquarium take approximately 25 minutes.

Umi Kirara, Kujukushima's aquarium, has one of the largest jellyfish exhibits in Japan, and is full of fun experiences. Everyone can enjoy dolphin shows, and tours of the islands on a sightseeing boat. There is a pearl extraction corner where visitors can try extracting pearls from Akoya clams, and can even make them into accessories.

The main attractions of the aquarium are the dolphin shows that run daily, and the Jellyfish Dome for which it is famous. Setting the mood with a darkened room and ambient music, the Jellyfish Dome allows you to take a closer look at these beautiful and dangerous creatures.

The aquarium features the rare Kiyohime jellyfish, found only in the Kujukushima area.

The best reason to visit the Pearl Sea Resort is to hope aboard a sightseeing boat and tour the 99 islands for which the area is named. There is an abundance of cruising options, from the white-hulled Pearl Queen cruise ship to Japan's first electric-propulsion cruise ship Pirate Cruise Ship Mirai, and the catamaran yacht 99Triton which began operating in 2021, as well as sea kayaks.
