Showcasing Kushiroshitsugen's natural beauty in all seasons

The Onnenai Visitor Center is located on the western edge of Kushiroshitsugen National Park, Japan's largest wetlands ecosystem.

A wheelchair-accessible wooden promenade outside the visitor center allows visitors of all physical capabilities views of blooming wildflowers, such as purple rabbit-ear irises, and glimpses of wild birds.

Three separate walking courses start from the visitor center: The shortest course is around 0.5 kilometers and takes only 10 minutes, the middle course is approximately 2 kilometers and takes about 40 minutes, and the longest course is around 3.1 kilometers and takes about 60 minutes. Free and paid guided nature walks are available.

Through the center's video panels, you can learn about the plants and animals that live in the park. You can find regularly updated information on the highlights of each season at the visitor center.

The marsh surrounding the wooden promenade is awash in green in the spring, gold in the autumn, and white in winter. It is possible to see the marsh lit up by the glow of fireflies on evenings in July and August. Mosquitos are common in the summertime, so you should bring repellent with you. Cross-country skiing is possible in the winter, and you can rent skis and snowshoes free of charge from the facility.
