View Lake Chuzenji from a former embassy villa
Visit the beautiful Italian Embassy Villa Memorial Park to relive Nikko’s history as a glamorous summer getaway. The building on the park's premises was formerly used as the Embassy of Italy’s summer residence. It was designed by Czech-American architect Antonin Raymond, who came to have a strong influence on modern Japanese architecture. The detailed wood paneling of the interior and exterior walls was crafted from local cedar trees.
