Over 2,000 cherry trees in bloom, and apple orchards all around

Established in memory of the Taisho Emperor, who ascended the throne in the early 20th century, Mato Park is home to more than 2,000 cherry trees. Yoshino cherry and wild cherry trees are stunning in full bloom from the middle of April to the end of April, making this site one of Japan's premium cherry blossom viewing areas during the park's festival.

Don't Miss

  • The aroma of apples, since the park is surrounded by orchards
  • The evening illuminations during the Mato Park Cherry Blossom Festival from late April to early May

How to Get There

The park is accessible from Jumonji Station, which is served by the Ou Main Line.

From Jumonji Station, take the bus bound for Higashinaruse. After about 20 minutes, get off at Matobashi. From there, it's a five-minute walk to the park.

Picnic in the park

Relax and enjoy sitting under these beautiful trees, taking in the calm and friendly atmosphere and perhaps having a picnic. During full bloom, the park becomes busy with families and friends enjoying drinks and snacks under the pink and white blossoms.
